Dubai: A jobless man has been jailed for three months after a court convicted him Tuesday of peeping at a woman who was changing her clothes in her bedroom.

The Dubai Court of First Instance incriminated the 24-year-old Bangladeshi defendant with breaching a woman's privacy, as charged by the Public Prosecution.

Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout said the accused, M.N., will be deported after serving his punishment.

The defendant earlier denied breaching the woman's privacy and peeping at her through her bedroom window while she was undressing.

"I am not guilty and this wouldn't have happened had she not looked at me and stood gazing without moving away. I did peep through the window while she was changing her clothes and she didn't seem to mind. She didn't even complain," argued the Bangladeshi suspect when he pleaded innocent in court.

The woman, L.A., testified that she saw the accused looking at her changing her clothes.

"Although I saw him peeping through the bedroom window, I continued changing my clothes& then I walked out but he ran away. I chased him for a while and stopped him then called the police," she claimed.

Records said a number of pedestrians helped the woman chase the defendant and stopped him until police arrived.

The judgment is subject to appeal within 15 days.
