Sharjah: Authorities here have referred the parents of a baby found in a luggage at an airport scanner machine for a DNA test.
The child, thought to be around one year old, was discovered by horrified Sharjah International Airport staff in the luggage of an Egyptian man and his wife as it passed through the scanner.
The Egyptian man, in his 30’s, and the woman were arrested on Sunday. The DNA test will be held in Abu Dhabi.
A police official told Gulf News: “A case has been registered against the mother and father, they both have visas to come to the UAE, but they have put the life of their child at risk.”
It is not clear whether the child travelled on the flight from Egypt to the capital in the luggage. The child, who has no passport or official identification, is suspected to be a victim of human trafficking.
