Fujairah: A 50-year-old man died in a car accident at a Fujairah roundabout early Monday.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr Saeed Al Hassani, acting director of Media and Public Relations Department for Fujairah Police, told Gulf News that the operations room of Fujairah Police received a phone call at 4am on Monday reporting the crash at Al Fanar roundabout in Dibba, Fujairah.

Police and ambulances rushed to the scene of the accident but the Lebanese man had already died of serious injuries. His body was transferred to a Dibba Hospital before it was released to the family.

Police said the driver, identified as F.A., was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was driving at speed. Police said he lost control of his vehicle at the roundabout which veered and then came to rest in the middle of the roundabout. No other vehicle was involved.

Fujairah Police appealed to drivers and members of the public to pay attention to the road while driving as well as to abide by traffic rules.

Meanwhile, two men were injured after a collision between a vehicle and bicycle in Fujairah on Monday.

A 28-year-old Asian man, identified as M.M., sustained moderate injuries when his bicycle collided with a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Asian man identified as A.F. on the Dibba-Khor Fakkan road.

Both received injures and were transferred to hospital for treatment.
