Dubai: An Asian woman has been accused of burying her dead baby girl that she conceived out of wedlock at the Jumeirah Open Beach.

The mother, identified as J.A.J., buried her 32-week-old baby at the beachside a day after she delivered her on January 1, said Senior Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Ali Rustom on Saturday.

“Prosecutor Maitha Ali Mubarak has accused the Asian woman with having out-of-wedlock sex with a man, who remains at large. The woman also faces accusation of endangering the life of her illegitimate girl by keeping her unfed and failing to provide her with the proper medical care. The woman is also charged with disposing the body of her baby and burying her at the seaside without obtaining the proper permission to do so from the concerned authorities,” said Rustom, Head of Family and Juveniles Prosecution (FJP).

The mother, along with her boyfriend, buried the baby at the Jumeirah Open Beach.

Records said the woman, who works at the Union Coop, gave birth to her baby in one of the Coop’s accommodations in Al Quoz.

Dubai Police’s medical report confirmed that the mother delivered her premature girl, who was between 30-32 weeks old, and was two days old when she died.

“A woman, who works for the Coop, claimed during interrogations that she spotted the suspect delivering her baby at the accommodation. The witness alleged that later she knew that the mother buried her baby at the beachside in Jumeirah 1. A police team accompanied by police sniffer dogs went to the beachside with the mother to dig out the baby’s corpse. During questioning the mother claimed that her lover buried the baby 300-meters away from a street parallel to the seaside and 30-metres away from the seawaters. However the body was not found. Later a lifeguard alleged that he spotted the baby’s corpse after it was washed away by the waves around 11:10am. Police thereafter recovered the 40-centimeter baby that was found dead,” said Rustom.

Prosecution sources told Gulf News that the mother has been referred to the Dubai Court of First Instance and a hearing will be scheduled soon.
