Abu Dhabi: A Nepalese truck driver, R.B., was stabbed to death three times after attempting to break up a fight between two of his colleagues.

The altercation took place over dinner preparations at a labour accommodation in the Western Region’s Habshan area in Madinat Zayed.

The 40-year-old suspect, B.B., was arrested about 35 minutes after the police received a report of the incident, Brigadier Ojeil Ali Abdullah Al Junaibi, Director of the Western Region Police Directorate, revealed. Police and ambulance units were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The long-bladed knife used as a murder weapon was also seized after the accused had reportedly hidden it in a ventilation unit, the official said.

B.B. had attempted to flee the scene and struggled to escape from police officials before being apprehended.

The suspect had beaten his roommate, D.B., 39, with a hammer before stabbing the victim who was “in the way” according to police.
