Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati woman survived after she was shot by her husband in their house in Ras Al Khaimah, a senior police official said late on Saturday.

Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police said the woman, in her forties, was shot several times by her Emirati husband who surrendered to the police.

Major General Al Nuaimi said following an alert the Central Operations Room dispatched an ambulance and paramedics to the house.

"Initial investigations showed that the accused fired several rounds at his wife following a heated argument," Major General Al Nuaimi said. “The woman who sustained several injuries has been admitted to a nearby hospital and her condition is stable," he added.

"The man surrendered to the police soon after the shooting."

Major General Al  Nuaimi said investigations are under way find the cause of the crime.
