A man was seriously injured yesterday after falling into a well close to his workplace in Al Oraibi.
His colleagues tried in vain to pull him out. The Civil Defence Department were then called.
The civil defence team used ropes to reach the 38-year-old Iraqi, Tamasem Shalab. He had sustained serious injuries and was taken to Saqr Hospital.
An official at the department added that incidents involving wells had increased recently last month a 70-year-old man died after falling into a well in Khor Khowair.
The official called on people never to leave their wells uncovered. The Civil Defence Department is to coordinate with other authorities to come up with steps to minimise such incidents, he said.
