DUBAI A 55-year-old Pakistani labourer has been found guilty of kidnapping and attempting to rape an eight-year-old Egyptian boy behind a mosque last year.

The Court of First Instance on Wednesday sentenced S.G. to five years in jail to be followed by deportation.

According to the charge sheet, the man had lured the boy, who was waiting for his father to pick him up at a mosque, to a garden located in the mosque’s backyard.

“S.G. hugged me and then fondled my behind. Shortly after that he stripped me of my clothing and touched my private parts, he then guided my hand to his,” said the child. He had gone to the mosque for Quran recitation classes and was waiting for his father to pick him up when he was accosted by the labourer.

The child managed to escape and took sanctuary at the stairs of the mosque.

“S.G. followed me to the stairs and took out his private parts while asking me about my age, school and class. He then left me and went into the mosque,” said the child.

His father, A.R., found him at the stairs a few minutes after S.G. went into the mosque.
