Ras Al Khaimah: The Criminal Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police on Monday arrested a young Emirati man who robbed a number of commercial shops in the emirate.

Brigadier Abdullah Al Munkis, director of the Criminal and Investigation Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the suspect robbed 13 shops in just 48 hours in different parts of the emirate.

The police received a number of complaints from shop owners reporting the thefts.

Investigations showed that the suspect used similar method in all his thefts.

On checking CCTV footage, the police found that the suspect had covered his face with a mask, wore gloves and used a sword to break into the shops.

He parked his vehicle away from the shops to avoid the CCTV cameras.

Red-handed

The police laid a trap and arrested him red handed.

The man has a criminal record and confessed stealing from 13 shops. Stolen goods, including cash, valuable goods, cashier machines were recovered from his possession.

The man was referred to public prosecution.

Brigadier Al Munkis urged business owners to secure their premises and not to leave cash or valuables items in shops and install CCTV cameras.
