Sharjah: An Asian woman was injured after she reportedly jumped from the window of third floor apartment in Sharjah on Saturday afternoon in a bid to escape from her sponsor’s house, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.
According to police, the Indonesian housemaid sustained serious fractures in her legs and hip due to fall.
A team from the Criminal Investigation Department and paramedics found the woman lying on the ground and unable to move.
The woman’s attempt to flee from her sponsor’s house was witnessed by several neighbours, said the police officer.
They reported the incident to police operation room a round 2.30pm.
The woman was taken to Al Kuwaiti Hospital for treatment.
Medical staff at Al Kuwaiti hospital told Gulf News that the woman sustained serious fractures to her legs and hips and she needed long time to recover. The woman was placed under police custody.
The woman told police that she tried to escape from her Indian sponsor’s house as she and another maid were kept locked in the house.
