Dubai: An Indian cook, who came to Dubai looking for a job, has been missing since Tuesday, his nephew said on Friday.

Santhosh Michael, 36, landed in Dubai on a visit visa on September 3, said his nephew, Sijo K.G.

He said his unmarried maternal uncle came over from Kerala and gained employment at a catering company near Al Quoz Mall where Sijo is also working as a cook.

“He started his trial on Saturday night itself. He doesn’t know the places here and he had lost his way to the company on Monday night. His shift was at 12 midnight. He finished duty by 11am on Tuesday. He was supposed to go back to the accommodation in the company van. But he missed it and walked back. I’m afraid he lost his way again,” Sijo told Gulf News on Friday.

He said Michael had left his passport, visit visa and wallet in their accommodation, near New Grand Mall, when he went to work. He was wearing a bluish green shirt and track pants when he went missing.

“I am worried that he must have collapsed somewhere as he had not slept properly for three nights because of the night shift. A friend and I also checked with a couple of hospitals. But there is no information about him,” he said.

A complaint has been registered with the Bur Dubai Police. Sijo said he also handed over the clothes and toothbrush used by his uncle to the police as instructed by them.
