Dubai: Two Asian men were arrested and 8.8kg of psychotropic drugs were seized by Dubai Police.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant to the Dubai Police Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs, said the two men were arrested for drug possession following accurate information that said that the men were active drug smugglers and dealers.

Police seized a total of 6.6kg of heroin and 2.2kg of crystal meth.

B.K., 38, was arrested in Al Rifa’a area near a restaurant and was searched and questioned. He admitted that he had large amounts of heroin and crystal meth.

Colonel Eid Mohammad Thani Hareb, Director of the Anti-Narcotics department at Dubai Police, said that when a team from the department searched B.K.’s house they found two plastic bags, one in his car and one is his bedroom, containing a total of 800 heroin pills weighing 6.6kg.

“They also found 286 capsules of crystal meth, which is commonly known as Shabu, in his bedroom. They weighed 2.2kg.” Col Thani said.

B.K. said that he and another person brought the drugs from another emirate into Dubai a week before his arrest, on the orders of an Asian drug dealer who lives abroad.

He said that his role in all their drug operations, including this one, was to receive the drugs from his partner, G.K., 50, and hide it in his house until it was time to deliver to a third party.

G.K. was tracked and arrested at Sharjah International Airport as he was trying to leave for his home country. G.K. resisted arrest and tried to escape, but to no avail.

During questioning, Col Thani said G.K. confessed that he took B.K. to an industrial area in another emirate as ordered by the drug dealer who lives abroad, and that he took the drugs from a person he did not know, and gave them to B.K. for safe keeping in return for money.

Both suspects were referred to the public prosecution.

B.K. was charged with promoting drugs, and G.K. was charged with possession and promoting drugs, as well as violating residency laws.

Dubai Police urge the public to call 800400400 for any drug-related suspicions or issues.
