Ajman Police calls on shopkeepers to secure their premises
Ajman: Three Emirati men have been arrested for a string of shop break-ins in UAE, police said on Wednesday.
The suspects were accused of stealing from several shops in Al Manama area of Ajman, as well as in Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.
Colonel Khalid Mohammad Al Nuaimi, director of external areas police, said police sprang into action after they received a number of complaints from shopkeepers in Al Manama area of Ajman saying their premises imposed to theft.
The Emirati suspects, two brothers identified as S.N.A., 19, and A.N.A., 20, and their friend, D.A.K., 25, are said to have smashed open the doors of the stores before stealing the contents.
Police formed a team to track down the suspects and arrested them.
The police team managed to identify the suspects. The two brothers were arrested in Abu Dhabi and the third suspect, a resident of Umm Al Quwain, was arrested in Khor Fakkan where he was staying with his friend.
On searching their houses, police found stolen items, including 11 mobile phones, Dh20,000 in cash as well as dollars. Police also found drug syringes. The tools used in the robberies have been confiscated by police.
The suspects used to rent a sports vehicle to carry out their robberies, Col Al Nuaimi said
The suspects confessed to the crimes. They have been referred to the Attorney-General.
Col Al Nuaimi thanked Abu Dhabi Police, Sharjah Police and Umm Al Quwain police for their cooperation in arresting the suspects.
Col Al Nuaimi called on shopkeepers to secure their premises by installing alarm systems and ensuring that doors are properly secured and not to leave large sums of money inside shops.
