Dubai: Four people have been arrested for possessing 91.7kg of Captagon pills in a sting operation, Dubai Police said on Saturday.
Carrying out swift undercover operation, the Anti-Narcotic Department of Dubai Police arrested the Asian drug dealers red handed in a residential area in Dubai, said Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police.
A team from Dubai Police nabbed two suspects while they were extracting a bag full of drugs hidden under a tree.
“It is a successful operation. An undercover policeman contacted the gang and lured them to buy the drugs... The two suspects went to bring the bag which was hidden under a tree. A team of officers monitored them and arrested them red handed,” Major General Al Mansouri said.
Dubai police on the same time arrested the other two suspects who were in a dhow boat. Police said they seized a total of 91.7kg of Captagon.
The four suspects confessed that they brought the drugs from their home country after instructions from their leader who staying outside the UAE.
“They were trying to promote the drugs inside the country. All referred to Dubai Public Prosecution to finish the investigation,” Maj-Gen Al Mansouri added.
He praised the role of his officers stating that they will stand against drug dealers from smuggling and selling drugs in the country.
