Ras Al Khaimah: Five people, including a father and son, sustained serious to moderate injures in a traffic accident on Al Rams Road in Ras Al Khaimah last week.

Two cars were involved in the accident, the first driven by a 33-year-old Emirati man who was travelling with his 14-year-old son and the other driven by a 26-year-old Asian man with two passengers.

Colonel Ali Elkum, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department of Ras Al Khaimah, said the accident occurred as one of the vehicles did not stay in its lane.

As a result the car crashed into the other.

The police operation room received a call reporting the incident. Police patrols and paramedics went to the scene and moved the injured to the hospital.

The Emirati man and his son sustained moderate injuries while one of the Asians sustained serious injuries and two received moderate injuries.

Col Elkum urged all motorists to abide by the speed limit on the road as well as traffic rules and regulations for their safety and that of others.

He also called on motorists to leave a safe distance between vehicles and to be vigilant when they change lanes.
