Dubai: Dubai customs inspectors at Dubai Cargo Village seized one kilogram of opium which was hidden in an electronic device.

It was part of a parcel on a transit flight coming from an Asian country and heading to a European country.

The cargo clearing agent presented the documents to complete customs procedures for a parcel at Dubai Cargo Village. The customs inspector noticed that the cargo looked lumpy.

He then searched it and found four wrapped plastic bags. K9- Dogs Squad was brought into the scene to check the cargo and later the customs mobile laboratory; both confirmed that it contained opium narcotics.

The contents of the parcel were transferred to the General Department of the Anti- Narcotics at Dubai Police and later sent to the European country it was originally heading for. And related information was communicated to authorities there.

The cargo was seized by the authorities of the European country and the owner of the cargo (Asian) was arrested and charged with narcotics possession and trafficking.
