Sharjah: Three Pakistani nationals, including two women and a man, were rescued on Saturday evening after their car veered off the Corniche Road, hit a barricade and fell in the Khalid Lagoon, an official of Sharjah Police told Guld News on Sunday.

The driver was distracted by a fire that was raging at a wooden dhow in Khalid Port.

The fire, which began at around 6.30pm was quickly brought under control.

No one was injured and the dhow was not carrying any cargo when the incident happened.

Onlookers jumped in the water and rescued the trio who were stuck in the car. They were rushed to Al Kuwaiti Hospital and police said their condition was stable at that time.

Sharjah Police urged motorists to pay attention to the road while driving and not be distracted even for a second.

Earlier this month, police rescued two Arabs in their 20 after their car accidentally rolled into the sea in Al Rams area of Ras Al Khaimah.

A police official had blamed an unlit road and the driver’s carelessness for the accident.
