Abu Dhabi: The General Administration of Customs — Abu Dhabi has prevented two cases of illegal entry into the UAE, as five people including to truck drivers tried to enter the country without identification papers at the Mezyad Customs Centre.

In the first incident, inspectors who became suspicious of an Arab truck driver, found two Arab individuals hiding inside his truck.

In the second incident, an African man was found hiding in a truck driven by a an Asian man.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the General Administration of Customs said the two truck drivers and three illegal immigrants have been referred to the authorities concerned for starting legal measures against them.

Mohammad Khadem Al Hameli, acting director general at the General Administration of Customs — Abu Dhabi, praised the custom inspectors for nabbing the illegal immigrants.

Al Hameli said that his department is committed to protecting the community from any security risks and adopting best international practices to check entry of illegal immigrants to the UAE,” he said.

He said the General Administration of Customs — Abu Dhabi will continue its efforts to improve the skill of its inspectors by providing them best training facilities.
