Ras Al Khaimah: The Misdemeanour Court here has named an abandoned baby and gave a UAE national woman, at whose doorstep he was found, custody of the child.
A senior court official said the housemaid of the national woman had found the infant wrapped in cloth and abandoned in a box at the family's doorstep.
The national family took the child to Saqr Hospital where he was given the necessary care and the case was reported to police, which investigated the incident and referred it to the Public Prosecution.
The court granted the national woman's wish when she expressed a desire to adopt the baby.
The court official said the baby boy will be issued a birth certificate and other official documents.
