Fujairah: The Traffic and Patrol Department of Fujairah Police fined 273 drivers for reckless driving and impounded 82 vehicles during the National Day holiday.

Brigadier Mohammad Ahmad Bin Ganem Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police, said around 82 cars and motorbikes were impounded for committing different violations

Brigadier Al Kaabi said that there were fewer violations during this year’s National Day celebrations as compared to 2015 because of increased public awareness and cooperation.

Brigadier Al Kaabi praised the efforts of traffic and patrol officers for regulating traffic efficiently during the holiday,

Lieutenant-Colonel Saif Rashid Al Zahmi, director of Dibba Police, said police deployed traffic patrols on all major roads and set up two checkpoints, one in Al Fiqit area and the other in Aqa, during the holiday to monitor drivers and reduce violations.

He said that the police towed away the offending vehicles to the impoundment complex in Fiqit area.
