Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has ordered 25 individuals to perform community service since March, when the courts began issuing such punishments.

The 25 men were found guilty of offences including reckless driving, road racing, performing dangerous stunts, and driving without plate numbers.

As part of their community service, the men have had to clean roads, public parks, public mosques, and work at petrol pumping stations.

Community service punishments have been given to individuals found guilty of smaller crimes whose punishments don’t amount to more than six months.

The Abu Dhabi Judiciary has said that community service sentences would serve as a positive influence of those convicted for minor crimes.
