Dubai: A worker has been jailed for six months for filming his co-worker naked in the shower and threatening to upload his video on Facebook if he didn’t have sex with him.

The 31-year-old Pakistani worker discretely followed his countryman co-worker to the washroom of their labour accommodation in May.

Once the co-worker undressed and hit the showers, the 31-year-old hid somewhere nearby and secretly filmed his countryman.

The 31-year-old sent the video to his co-worker’s Facebook messenger and threatened to post the clip [of him nude in the shower] online if he didn’t agree to have sex with him.

The co-worker communicated with the sender, who had established a fake profile on Facebook, and was told that the 31-year-old filmed him secretly because he wanted to have sex with him.

On Monday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the defendant of molesting the victim by secretly filming him naked in the shower, misusing Facebook when he threatened the co-worker to post his video if he refused to have sex with him and breaching his privacy.

Presiding judge Urfan Omar said the accused will be deported after serving his jail term.

The accused admitted that he had filmed the victim naked but denied the charge of threatening to post the video on Facebook or having demanded to have sex with him.

The victim said that he received a video clip of him naked in the washroom from someone he did not know.

“When I checked my inbox at Facebook messenger, the sender threatened to post the clip online if I refused to become his friend. I communicated with the sender and when I met him, I realised that it is the defendant … he told me that he sent me the clip because he wanted to have sex with me,” he told prosecutors.

Monday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
