Dubai A worker has been accused of using his mobile to show images of immoral nature to a nine-year-old schoolgirl and molesting her in a passageway near her house.
The nine-year-old Indian girl was said to be walking through the passageway to her home when her 38-year-old countryman stopped her in May.
Then he took out his mobile phone and showed some images of immoral content to the girl, according to records, and later groped her.
The girl believed to have informed her parents and they reported the matter to the police.
Following his arrest, prosecutors accused the suspect of molesting the girl.
According to the accusation sheet, prosecutors said the suspect abused the girl’s innocence and young age before he showed her indecent pictures and molested her.
When the suspect showed up before the Dubai Court of First Instance, he failed to enter his plea due to the absence of a translator who speaks his language.
Presiding judge Urfan Omar adjourned the hearing until a translator is made available when the court reconvenes on July 24.
The girl testified to prosecutors that the incident happened when she was walking back to her home.
“The suspect came to me and showed me some inappropriate images on his mobile … while doing so, he touched me in a bad way,” she said.
The suspect was quoted as admitting to prosecutors that he showed the immoral images to the girl on his mobile.
He was also quoted as saying that he deleted those images shortly after the incident.
The girl identified the suspect at the police line-up three times, said the records.
