Ajman: An Arab woman has been sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation for threatening and defaming the former wife of her husband by uploading her private photos and video showing her dancing on Facebook.
The Criminal Court of First Instance also fined the 27-year-old woman, identified as J.A., Dh21,000.
She was not present in the court and was sentenced in absentia by Judge Mohammad Hamad Hussain Al Sha’ali.
The court found the Arab woman guilty of threatening the ex-wife of her husband by posting her photos and video on Facebook to force her to drop her financial rights as a divorcee.
The couple and the ex-wife are of same nationality.
Court records showed that the two women were friends and later, the accused married the husband of her friend in August.
The ex-wife, identified as R.M., lodged a complaint with the police asking them to take legal action against J.A. in accordance with the Sharia and the UAE law.
