Visitor lured by stranger on social media, pepper-sprayed and robbed
Dubai: An Emirati man and a juvenile allegedly pepper-sprayed and assaulted a Saudi tourist and stole his phone after befriending him on social media.
H.M.A.E., 23., was charged with robbery in the incident that took place on June 29, 2015, while the juvenile, M.M.D., 17, is standing trial at the juvenile court for the same charges.
The victim, A.A.A., 35, told the prosecution that he befriended a stranger on social media, who said he would help him when he comes to Dubai.
When A.A.A. came to Dubai, he agreed to meet that person in Al Ghusais behind a petrol station.
The person greeted the victim, and then pepper-sprayed him and started beating him.
The attacker was then joined by another person who also attacked him and they took away his mobile phone.
A.A.A. reported the incident to the police, and they managed to find the two suspects who admitted to the attack.
The next hearing will be on September 28.
