A student who was found having an illicit relationship with a married woman and consuming drugs has been jailed for 39 months.

The woman’s husband complained to Dubai Police that his wife was involved in an extramarital relationship with a26-year-old Palestinian student at a hotel in Bur Dubai in September 2017.

Police team raided the hotel room, and found the wife and the 26-year-old under the influence of drugs.

The couple were arrested and they admitted that they were in an illicit relationship.

Police investigations revealed they had consumed amphetamine, methamphetamine and Pregabalin and had sex three times before their arrest.

On Monday, the Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the student for three years for providing drugs to the woman defendant and also fined him Dh20,000.

Presiding judge Urfan Omar also jailed him three months for having consensual sex with the married woman.

The Palestinian accused was convicted of providing mind-altering substances to the housewife, having consensual sex with her and consuming drugs.

According to Monday’s ruling, the accused will be deported following the completion of his punishment.

When the man showed up in court, he pleaded guilty to consuming drugs but denied having sex with the housewife.

“Nothing happened between us … we didn’t have sex and I didn’t provide her with banned substance,” the 26-year-old told the court.

A police lieutenant said they raided the hotel room shortly after the husband had complained to them that his wife was cheating on him.

“We raided the hotel room and arrested the couple. Upon questioning, the housewife said she had sex three times with the 26-year-old defendant, who confirmed her claims.

“She also claimed that she consumed mind-altering substances that she took from the Palestinian.

“The 26-year-old alleged that his brother had taken the drugs from a Pakistani … he also claimed that he had been providing the housewife with drugs since July 2017,” the police officer said.

The female defendant is currently being tried before the Dubai Misdemeanours Court for allowing the student to have sex with her and consuming drugs.

Monday’s ruling remain subject to appeal within 15 days.
