Dubai: A 31-year-old Bangladeshi carpenter has been accused of molesting a nine-year-old Jordanian girl outside her home.

The man, J.S.A.S., took advantage when the girl was playing in front of her villa in April. Prosecutors said the suspect was carrying out maintenance works outside the girl’s villa when he called out to the girl and molested her. The girl started screaming, ran away, and alerted her parents about the incident.

A police witness said J.S.A.S. was then summoned to the police station where the girl identified him immediately and without hesitation from a line-up.

He was then detained based on the victim’s claims.

The girl’s mother told the prosecution that she had received a phone call at 11.30am from her daughter, who told her about what happened.

The mother was at a nearby supermarket when she received the call. The mother returned to the villa and confronted the man, but they were unable to communicate because they did not speak each other’s language.

In another case, a 20-year-old Egyptian cook allegedly molested a 26-year-old Mexican manager by forcefully kissing her and touching her private parts.

According to the charge sheet, the victim and the accused, A.T.A.M., were in an elevator at 11.40pm, when the cook asked “how are you” in Arabic to the victim and pretended to want to take a selfie with her.

The victim refused and when she was leaving the elevator, A.T.A.M, grabbed the victim and started kissing her, and pulled down her pants and touched her inappropriately.

The woman reported the attack to the police, and she identified the accused from a line-up.

The accused confessed to the charges to the police and the prosecution.

The case has been transferred to the criminal court, and he will remain in detention until the trial.
