Dubai: An Indian man was charged with murder for killing his countryman by dropping a brick from the eighth floor of their labourer’s accommodation on to the victim’s head, a court heard on Tuesday.

The suspect, N.T.K., was also charged with assaulting another Indian man, R.K., as the brick injured him too.

The incident took place following an argument between N.T.K. and the deceased, J.K.S. Both men were intoxicated.

N.T.K. confessed to the crime to the Public Prosecution.

N.T.K. said they were all having a colleague’s farewell party for a colleague, when he suggested they go out to dinner in a restaurant in Jafza Mall.

However, N.T.K. got into an argument with the restaurant’s supervisor, and the group left without having dinner. On the way back to their accommodation, J.K.S. blamed N.T.K for the way he acted at the restaurant and said it was his fault that they did not get to eat there.

The deceased then pushed N.T.K. to the floor and walked off.

The court documents stated that N.T.K. said that at that moment he felt that he wanted revenge.

When N.T.K. reached their accommodation, he saw the two victims and another man sitting on a low wall outside the building and told them he would meet them after he collected his laundry from the roof.

He went to the roof and dropped the brick on J.K.S.’s head. Then he rushed down to use the toilet and went out to where the men were sitting.

There he saw that R.K.’s foot was injured and he attempted to help him, but R.K. asked him to help J.K.S. who was bleeding heavily from his head. The third person was standing there in shock.

N.T.K. then alerted a security guard who called the police and an ambulance.

J.K.S. died on the spot.
