Dubai: An unemployed man, who crashed his wife’s car into the front door of his mother’s villa, went on to bite the policeman who was arresting him.
The 31-year-old from Comoros Islands was found to have been under the influence of drugs when the incident took place in Al Ghusais area in December.
According to records, a police patrol was dispatched to the villa, where police found that the man had also wrecked two chandeliers in the main hall of the villa by throwing two chairs at them.
Upon searching the man’s room, police seized pills. He was handcuffed and a policeman was helping him get into the police car when the accused resisted ferociously and bit the policeman’s thumb.
Prosecutors charged the suspect with biting a drug enforcement officer and consuming methamphetamine and amphetamine.
Prosecutors dropped the charge of possessing the pills that had been seized in the man’s bedroom because he had a medical prescription for them.
Appearing before the Dubai Court of First Instance, the accused denied biting the policeman, but admitted that he consumed drugs. He told the court that the policeman had waived his complaint against him.
He further appealed to the presiding judge to grant him bail on grounds of leniency because his son has thalassaemia.
A ruling will be heard on February 11.
