Dubai A 62-year-old government employee has been accused of raping his 52-year-old maid servant after threatening to physically assault her at his residence, a court heard on Sunday.

The 52-year-old Filipina maid was said to have absconded from her 62-year-old Emirati sponsor’s residence in Al Ghusais and went directly to the police station in October where she alleged that she had been raped.

The Filipina told the duty police officer that her sponsor had repeatedly raped her after threatening to beat her up.

Police summoned the 62-year-old employee for questioning, during which he refuted the maid’s claims and said that she had fabricated the rape case because he wanted to send her back to her country.

Prosecutors charged the 62-year-old suspect with raping the woman after threatening to beat her.

The suspect did not show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance where he was scheduled to enter his plea on Sunday.

Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi adjourned the case until the suspect was legally notified about the upcoming hearing on December 24.

The 52-year-old woman claimed to prosecutors that the suspect had hired her to work for him in December 2016.

“He started raping me in March 2017 and he did it several times … he constantly threatened to beat me and I was scared and forced to remain silent because of the fear of being abused and beaten. One day he walked in on me at my bedroom and removed my pants. Then he raped me … I couldn’t resist him because he was stronger and threatened to beat me. Thereafter I ran away from his flat and rushed to the nearest police station and told them what had happened,” she testified to prosecutors.

The suspect reportedly told prosecutors and police interrogators that he never had sex with the Filipina and that she had fabricated her rape claims because she was incompetent and he had wanted to send her to her country.
