Ras Al Khaimah: Labour courts dedicated to looking into cases involving labour disputes and cases will soon be set up in Ras Al Khaimah to speed up the litigation process and protect workers’ rights and employers’ interests.

The move comes on the orders of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Judiciary Council, to establish labour courts at the headquarters of the Labour Ministry at Ras Al Khaimah.

Shaikh Mohammad’s resolution is based on the principle of safeguarding the right to litigation by disputing parties and speeding up the process of looking into labour cases.

Shaikh Mohammad issued instructions to relevant bodies to provide all judicial services to labour courts, so as to spare workers and employers and their lawyers from visiting the headquarters of the Courts Department.

He underlined the UAE’s keenness to protect workers’ rights as labourers constitute a very important category for their role in development and building a sustainable economy.

Saqr Ghobash, Labour Minister, said the establishment of labour courts at the Labour Ministry’s office in Ras Al Khaimah reaffirms the UAE’s eagerness, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to strengthen the rule of law and separation of powers and the protection of labour rights, as well as to ensure the interests of employers based on the principle of safeguarding the right of litigation of disputing parties.
