Dubai: A businesswoman who admitted to killing her lover, then slept on his chest till the next morning, now stands accused of premeditated murder.

She had told police investigators the victim had rejected her marriage proposal.

The 33-year-old Russian businesswoman, E.T., was said to have stabbed her Palestinian lover thrice in the chest and killed him in August 2014 after he continuously refused to marry her although she loved him madly.

The woman was intoxicated when she stabbed the victim in the chest, then fell asleep before she called the police, according to prosecution records.

The suspect was quoted telling prosecutors that she was in love with the victim. She claimed she had lent him more than Dh500,000 and bought him two cars.

Prosecutors have charged E.T. with consuming alcohol, having consensual sex and premeditated murder.

The defendant did not enter a plea before the Dubai Court of First Instance as jail wardens brought her late to court on Tuesday.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the suspect stabbed the victim with a 25cm long knife and killed him.

A policeman, who inspected the alleged murder scene, testified to prosecutors that E.T. collapsed and cried bitterly beside the victim’s body when police arrived at her flat.

“I communicated with her over the phone since she reported to us that she had murdered someone. She was completely devastated and her right arm was covered with a white bandage soaked with blood … she opened the door when I arrived.

"She sat on the floor and clutched the victim’s legs. She claimed that she loved him and that she had lent him money and bought him two cars but he refused to marry her. The suspect further alleged that she discovered that the man was married and had been exploiting her financially as he constantly took between Dh10,000 and Dh20,000 every now and then.

"E.T. also claimed that she was married to him and had asked him to divorce his wife. On the night of the incident, according to E.T.’s statement, they had a heated argument over their relationship then each of them left for a bar and consumed liquor at 12am. She claimed that when she returned to the flat after 90 minutes she had another fight with the victim over the money she had lent him,” claimed the policeman.

A police lieutenant told to prosecutors: “The defendant claimed during questioning that she was drunk when she returned to the flat … and that he was asleep when she stabbed him to death. She claimed that she slept on his chest till noon when she called the police.”

A Syrian friend, who was the last person to see the victim shortly before his death, testified to prosecutors: “We were out in a coffee shop around 9pm … then he left. We met again at the same place at midnight and he seemed depressed and he told me that he was not feeling comfortable with E.T. any more.

"He also said that he was planning to break up with her. Then we went to a pub where we had a drink and dined. The victim told me that he was heading to meet a woman and then return to the flat. I called him at 3.30am and he told me that he was about to enter the flat. At noon the next day, the suspect called me and informed me that she had killed the victim. She was a jealous woman.”

Another Jordanian friend claimed to prosecutors that E.T. constantly asked the victim’s friends if he had relationships with other women.

Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal adjourned the hearing until the defendant enters a plea on May 19.
