Dubai: A visitor has been accused of cross-dressing and using Facebook to pose as a woman and lure a 20-year-old male student to have sex with him at a hotel room.

The 24-year-old Filipino man, F.V., allegedly created a woman’s account on Facebook and pretended to be one before he enticed the 20-year-old Turkish student, M.B., to have sex with him in April 2015. F.V. wore a female outfit, impersonated his female cousin and booked a hotel room in his name [as a female], then met M.B. and had sex with him.

Meanwhile M.B. and another juvenile suspect identified as U.E. were accused of assaulting F.V. and stealing Dh52,000 from the hotel room’s safe. Prosecutors accused the Filipino of cross-dressing, seducing the Turkish suspect and impersonation.

The Turkish was charged with theft and assault.

The two defendants were accused of having consensual sex in the hotel in Al Barsha. Jail wardens did not bring F.V. to court on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, presiding judge Mohammad Jamal did net level the accusations against M.B. and adjourned the case until F.V. is produced in the next hearing on July 12.

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the Filipino seduced the Turkish man and encouraged him to have sex with him via Facebook. He also cross-dressed and impersonated his cousin [M.] by using her passport to check in at the hotel.

M.B. and U.E. [who is being prosecuted before the Juveniles Court] were charged with beating F.V., tying him up and stealing money from the safe and his iPhone.

As per the UAE Penal Code, a cross-dresser could face up to one year in jail and/or a fine of Dh10,000.

The Filipino told prosecutors that U.E. called him and offered to have sex with him for Dh1,500.

“He called me and offered to have paid sex. We agreed to meet in the hotel at 4.30pm. He came at 6pm. When I opened the door for him, he showed me what he claimed to be a police identification card. He alleged that I was wanted over cocaine charges. He ordered me to open the safe to check if I had hidden any drugs … I doubted that he was a policeman and refused to comply. When I opened the door to run away, another man [the other suspect] was standing at the door. The latter prevented me from leaving. The two men beat me up, tied me and stole my phone and the cash from the safe. Then they ran away … I crawled to the door and asked the cleaners for assistance. The duo stole my passport and that of my cousin as well,” F.V. alleged to prosecutors.

A policeman claimed to prosecutors that they arrested M.B. shortly after they identified him.

“During questioning, the Turkish suspect alleged that he and U.E. assaulted F.V. and stole his money. He claimed that they stole Dh10,000 only,” testified the policeman.

M.B. was cited as admitting to prosecutors that he had consensual sex with F.V.

The Filipino was also quoted as telling prosecutors that he promoted himself as a prostitute on Facebook and that the seized money was the revenues from having sex with men.
