Dubai: The Dubai Judicial Institute [DJI] has strengthened its Ambassador Programme “Safeer” by providing a training course for international students in collaboration with SP Jain School of Global Management.

The daylong course was delivered by lecturer Mohammad Al Yafei, project manager of the Ambassador Programme and legal researcher at DJI.

The course was attended by 104 students from Canada, India, South Korea, the Philippines, the USA and Vietnam, and provided a comprehensive overview of the UAE’s legal and judicial systems.

Topics covered included the federal and local systems in the legal and judicial fields, Dubai’s free zones and non-free zones, the procedures and requirements for establishing new businesses and companies in Dubai, and the operations and mandates of the Dubai Judicial Institute.

Judge Dr Jamal Al Sumaiti, director-general of the DJI, said they launched the Ambassador Programme to offer their excellence in legal training to international students.

“It was also launched to give students an opportunity to visit the UAE and learn about the evolution of the country’s judicial system at first hand. Our latest course was designed to give students specific knowledge about the UAE’s judicial system, while also enriched their understanding of the global legal sector by encouraging them to make normative comparisons between Dubai Judicial Institute and other world government departments,” said Dr Al Sumaiti.

Al Yafei said DJI is dedicated to strengthening links between the Institute and other countries by facilitating international communication and exchange in the legal sector.

“The Ambassador Programme underpins the institute’s reputation as a leading judicial centre at both local and global levels, and allows us to collaborate with other entities, organisations and schools to develop international partnerships,” he added.
