Dubai: The Dubai Courts Department (DCD) has bagged a distinguished global award and ranked second among the world’s top 10 courts which are implementing technological solutions in the judicial field.

In an award ceremony held during the 8th annual conference of International Association for Court Administration (IACA) in Washington, Chief Judge Mohammad Mubarak Al Suboosi, Head of Dubai Commercial Court, received the award.

Chief Judge Al Suboosi represented DCD’s Director General Taresh Eid Al Mansouri at the international conference.

Omar Al Shamsi, deputy head of the UAE mission to the United States, chief justices and dignitaries from a number of countries attended the conference.

The submissions for the award are judged on the basis of participants’ interactive capabilities (e-pay, e-filing, subscriptions, smart forms and others), access to public records and other helpful information, user interface (layout, navigation, ease of use and others), optimisation for mobile services and accessibility to the technological solutions.

Al Mansouri said the DCD has been recognised for its achievements and innovation in facilitating litigation and providing high quality judicial services using modern technologies.

“This includes automating the case file and a range of electronic and smart services for all categories of litigants. The Dubai Courts Department offers 480 electronic and smart services, with a usage rate of 92 per cent. The DCD is taking a keen interest in the transformation process and will continue to implement its ambitious strategy for smart transformation to maintain its position as one of the world’s leading courts in harnessing the latest technologies to provide justice. A justice that is quick and accurate and gains the confidence of local and international communities,” Al Mansouri said.

Abdul Rahim Al Mudharreb, Director of Information Technology Section, said the DCD’s recognition in this award comes in line with the ongoing efforts by the department to develop and modernise electronic and smart services and to ensure that customers adopt and use them.
