Dubai: A suspected molester had the shock of his life when a giant Golden Retriever barked furiously at him after he hugged and groped a 67-year-old woman, who owns the dog.

Court records show that the 67-year-old Indian housewife was said to be opening the door to her flat when the 26-year-old worker groped her in May.

Shortly after she was opening the door to her flat, according to records, the 26-year-old Pakistani suspect came from the back, hugged and then groped her.

The shocked woman instantly scolded the man, before her Golden Retriever heard her cries and started barking furiously and loudly from behind the door.

Records said the suspect freaked out in shock and fear before he let the woman go and ran away once he heard the dog barking.

Police identified the 26-year-old man from the building’s surveillance cameras at the third floor.

Prosecutors accused the suspect, a Pakistani, of groping the elderly woman.

The suspect pleaded no guilty when he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Sunday.

The elderly housewife told prosecutors that the incident happened in the corridor of the building at around 7.15pm.

“As I was about to unlock the door, the suspect came from behind suddenly and hugged me. He groped my top and clutched my body before I shouted at him. Once my dog heard my cries, it started barking furiously from behind the door … the suspect felt scared and ran away,” she told prosecutors.

The building’s security guard told prosecutors that when he saw the suspect, he asked him where was he going.

“Since he was a stranger, I asked him whom he was visiting in the building. He told me that he had come to visit a Pakistani friend … then I told him to go up to the second floor because it was the only floor where we had Pakistani tenants. When I was leaving the mosque, the elderly housewife phoned me and told me what had happened. When I checked the CCTV cameras, it turned out to be the same person. Thereafter we reported the matter to the police,” the security guard told prosecutors.

A ruling in the case will be heard on November 29.
