Abu Dhabi: The killer of an 11-year-old Pakistani boy in Abu Dhabi was given the death sentence on Monday.

The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance ordered the execution of the accused who raped and murdered the boy in his building's rooftop during Ramadan. The victim was his nephew.

Following the rare rape-murder case, the court also ordered an exemplenary compensation of Dh200,000 to be paid to the family of Azan Majid Janjua.

Janjua went missing in June and his body was later found on the rooftop of the building where his family lived. CCTV footage from the building showed the boy with a burqa-clad person who was later identified as the accused.

The boy’s Pakistani father and Russian mother were both present in court.

The mother, who used to visit her son in Abu Dhabi, was in the city when the tragedy occurred.
