Dubai: Three men and a woman have been jailed for three years each for luring a manager for a sex massage to a flat where they beat him up and robbed his Dh101,000.

The Lebanese manager went for a dinner and massage at the flat of a supposedly Russian woman he met on a dating app. He had a profile on the dating app when he liked the profile of a blonde girl and matched with her in July.

The woman, who was a European according to the details on the dating app, had also liked the Lebanese manager’s profile before they both matched and chatted for a while.

After claiming to the Lebanese that she was called Engy and was Russian, the woman invited the manager for dinner and sex massage at her flat in Al Barsha.

He parked his car behind the building and went up to the fifth floor before a woman answered the door after she hid behind it.

The Lebanese stepped into the flat before a 27-year-old Nigerian woman came out from behind the door. The surprised manager asked her about the Russian woman and she told him that she would be out in a minute before another Nigerian woman came out and they both demanded him to pay them money.

When he refused, three Nigerian men, aged between 23 and 32, came out from another room before the five Nigerians ganged up against the Lebanese and assaulted him.

While beating him, they repeatedly asked him for Dh5,000 and took away his mobile phone before he had to surrender his car keys at knifepoint to one of the men.

The man went to his car and brought his wallet. Then they threatened to kill him if he didn’t give the pin codes of two of his bank cards.

Before letting him go, the Nigerian gang took a photo of the man to be able to identify him later and kill him in case he reported them to the police.

The Lebanese went directly to the police and reported what had happened and in the meantime the gang withdrew Dh101,000 from his bank account.

Preliminary police investigation led to the arrest of the 27-year-old woman and her three countrymen while the second woman remained at large.

On Wednesday, the Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the four Nigerian defendants of beating and robbing the Lebanese and threatening to kill him with a knife.

The defendants, who pleaded not guilty, will be deported following the completion of their jail terms, said presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi.

The 42-year-old testified that once the woman opened the door, he could not see her because she hid behind it.

“I realised that she is not the same woman, and when I asked about Engy, she told me that she is inside. Another African woman came out. They asked me for money … then three men came out and they all assaulted me. I was threatened with a knife,” he said.

Wednesday’s ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
