Manama: The embassies of Egypt and other Arab countries in Kuwait City have reportedly requested Kuwait's foreign ministry to increase the security measures around their premises, a local daily said.
The request aims to deter any potential unruly demonstrations by expatriate citizens, according to a foreign ministry source, Kuwait Times reported on Sunday.
Kuwait has warned expatriates against holding rallies around diplomatic missions as events unfolding in Egypt have cast a shadow on the Gulf.
The examinations of Kuwaiti students studying in Egyptian universities have been postponed following an agreement between the higher education ministries of both countries, Moudhi Al Homoud, the Kuwaiti education minister, said.
The recruitment of Egyptian teachers for the next academic year could also be affected by the developments in Egypt, and the education ministry has started coordinating with the Civil Service Commission to appoint teachers from Kuwait. Egypt has been one of the main exporters of teaching staff to the Gulf state, the daily reported.
