Yemen frees four former Guantanamo inmates
The Yemeni government yesterday released four ex-Guantanamo detainees who had spent more than three months in custody, official sources said.
Sanaa: The Yemeni government yesterday released four ex-Guantanamo detainees who had spent more than three months in custody, official sources said.
Fawazi No'man Hamoud, Ali Musen Saleh Nasser, Sadeq Mohammad Saeed Isameel and Hani Abdu Musleh Shulan were freed accord to instructions from the general prosecutor, security sources told Gulf News.
Relatives confirmed the men had been released.
"We were informed today that my brother Saedq and three others had been released, but they have not arrived home yet," Rashad Mohammad Saeed, one of the detainee's brothers told Gulf News yesterday.
Earlier this week, in an interview with Gulf News an Amnesty International official had appealed to the Yemeni authorities to release the men as they were being held in prison without charge.
