Sana’a: A US drone on Saturday hit a car carrying Al Qaida operatives who were engaged in a gun fight with the army in Yemen’s southeastern province of Hadramaut afternoon, a local government official told Gulf News.
The official, however, did not give any details on the casualties in the strike in Al Mudhur of Qaten district.
But a military source in Brigade 37 that is stationed in the area told Hadramaut Press website that the drone stepped in when Al Qaida gunmen attacked an army vehicle and the car carrying militants was destroyed in the strike. Three soldiers were injured in the ensuing clashes.
On Monday, a US drone killed three Al Qaida operatives in the same area.
