Plan to reintegrate Yemenis detained at Guantanamo
The Yemeni government has said it has prepared a programme to reintegrate about 85 men of its citizens who are still detained in Guantanamo Bay.

Sana'a: The Yemeni government has said it has prepared a programme to reintegrate about 85 men of its citizens who are still detained in Guantanamo Bay.
The government said Thursday it had handed a copy of the programme to the US government through the American ambassador who recently left Sana'a to brief his government on such procedures.
The programme aims to convince the returnees to renounce violence and extremism by reintegrating them into the society according to that programme, official sources said.
The returnees will be compensated by the government, the sources added.
A coordination plan between the ministries of education, information, and Islamic affairs and guidance, will be drawn for them to be re-qualified and to benefit themselves and their nation, the sources said.
Violence
A number of religious scholars, trusted by returnees, will participate in an awareness programme once the men are back in Yemen.
The awareness programme will focus on the genuine principles and doctrines of Islam and means of how to defend and protect it by wisdom rather than by violence, the sources said.
To this end, a high level official from the US government is likely to visit Yemen over the next few days to discuss cooperation between the two countries including the issue of extradition of the Yemenis in Guantanamo.
About 92 Yemenis are still languishing in the American detention.
