Judge dissolves 'forced' marriage
A judge has dissolved the marriage of an 8-year-old girl to a man 22 years her senior, according to a lawyer.
Sana'a: A judge has dissolved the marriage of an 8-year-old girl to a man 22 years her senior, according to a lawyer.
The court has also ordered her to be taken away from her father, who allegedly forced her into the marriage.
The girl's story came to light when she took the unusual step and sought out a judge on her own in early April to file for divorce.
The girl told reporters after the Wednesday ruling that her father had forced her into the abusive marriage to a 30-year-old man, and claims he beat and raped her.
