Sana’a: More than 20 people were killed and tens of others injured by heavy rain which fell on provinces in Yemen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Six people were killed and eight others injured in the province of Dhammar, 200 kilometres south west of the capital Sana’a.

The Secretary General of the local council of Wesab Safel district in Dhammar, Abdu Saad Al Faqee said five people were killed and four others injured when a health centre collapsed on the people inside, due to the torrential rain. An old woman was killed and four others were injured when their car was swept away in the same district, added Al Faqee.

Seven people, including two women and three children, also died when their car was swept away in Al Mashana area in the city of Ibb, said the Director of Jebal district in the province of Ibb, Ali Yahya Jaghman.

Two men were killed in the city of Sana’a, the capital of Yemen, according to an interior ministry statement.

Furthermore, seven people were killed and 41 injured in various traffic accidents caused by the rain which had on Thursday been falling in Yemen for three days.
