A senior security official told Gulf News a US drone targeted five people on motorcycles in a small valley near the port city of Shiher.
"Four of the people died at the scene and the fifth suffered heavy injuries and died later on in hospital. We do not know whether they are members of Al Qaida or not. Shiher residents suspect that there are outsiders," said the official who asked not to be named.
Earlier on Monday, another suspected drone strike killed three Al Qaida militants, including a leading figure, in Radda town, Bayda province, south-eastern Sana'a.
