Caravan of female relief workers head for war-torn Sa'ada in Yemen
A group of women volunteers on Wednesday led a caravan of relief workers to the northern province of Sa'ada to help war victims.

Sana'a: A group of women volunteers on Wednesday led a caravan of relief workers to the northern province of Sa'ada to help war victims.
The caravan included several cars loaded with food, blankets, clothes and other essentials, organisers said. The caravan is supported by the Sana'a-based office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in coordination with the Yemeni Women's Union.
“We sent about 6,000 blankets and food items for children and some sanitation materials and clothes for women and children,'' said Ramziah Al Aryani, chairwoman of the Yemeni Women's Union.
Al Aryani said her organisation in cooperation with UNFPA trained 15 people from the Women's Union branch in Sa'ada to distribute the goods and to provide some psychological assistance to war victims.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Local Administration and chairman of the committee for the assessment of damages in the war-torn areas in Sa'ada, Abdul Qadi Hilal said the reconstruction process would start at the beginning of September.
He said priority will be given to the reconstruction of houses and public schools that need to be ready to receive students for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Hilal and the governor of Sa'ada have been supervising the assessment of damages in war-torn areas such as Al Safra and Kutaf.
“We have come with officials from all concerned bodies to heal the wounds of Sa'ada and to announce the return of peace, love and development to this province,'' Hilal told a crowd of citizens from the area who are still awaiting compensation. “We all should be against the culture of hatred and divisions,'' Hilal said.
