Ras Al Khaimah: A woman was killed and two of her sisters and a brother were seriously injured in a car crash on the Al Saadi-Tawian Road in Ras Al Khaimah early on Wednesday.

All the victims are Emiratis. According to police, the 24-year-old brother, who was driving the family car, lost control of the vehicle while overtaking a truck on a two-way road. He changed lanes to overtake the truck, but realised that a vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. In an attempt to return to his lane, he collided with the truck.

Colonel Ali Saeed Elkum, director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the 26-year-old woman killed was sitting in the front seat while the two sisters, aged 22 and 30, were in the back seat when the crash happened.

Police patrols and paramedics rushed to the scene of the incident after the operations room received a call reporting the incident.

The woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The seriously injured siblings are recuperating in hospital.

Col Elkum urged motorists to follow traffic regulations to avoid such accidents.
