Dubai: Lightning lit up the Dubai sky and thunder roared throughout Monday night as rain continued to pour down across the UAE.
Followers of Gulf News' official Twitter account tweeted their images of lightning, rain and tumultuous weather, while YouTube users posted videos of lightning and hail storms from various corners of the country.
This video shows a huge flash of lightning over the Motor City area of Dubai on Monday night:
YouTube user Matthew Gilbert, who posted the video, said: “A rare thunder and lightning storm in Dubai during the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 20, 2015 (looking towards the Dubai Autodrome in Motor City).”
And this clip shows booming thunder over another part of the city.
Another video, posted by Elton Frans, shows a lightning fork appearing to strike the top of the Burj Al Arab.
Dubai residents also took to Instagram and Twitter to show the sheer scale on Monday night's storm.
