Al Ain: Weather conditions over the Indian subcontinent are causing clouds, dust and sporadic rain in eastern and southern UAE, forecasts show.

Meteorologists have also reported the movement of a low and moist surface layer of air that has been forming cumulus clouds over some UAE areas with the assistance of an atmospheric low pressure.

"This has been happening in the afternoon for the last three days and today (Thursday) is an exception," said a duty forecaster.

The development has pushed mercury even higher in some areas.

The clouds also gave scattered light to moderate rain in the eastern region, particularly in Mussafi and Al Ain, in the last two days, according to the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

Hot and dusty

The centre has recorded light to moderate rain at Al Ain Airport, in Salamat, Al Yahar, Mazira, Al Hayer, Al Ajili Valley, Al Saad, Al Maqam, Mussafi, and Madinat Zayed areas in the last two days.

The rest of the country faced hot, dry, and dusty conditions as moderately rough winds kicked up dust and sand.

Explaining the phenomenon, the forecaster said cumulus clouds are formed by the air moisture that gets condensed. It happens when warm and moist air lifts up and meets with cool air.

According to the weather alert of the NCMS, weather is expected to be hot, dusty, and partly cloudy at times.
