Al Ain: Forecasters have warned weekend joyriders to stay away from the sea and exercise caution on highways as windy and dusty weather is expected to continue until Sunday morning.

The national weather bureau said the strong north-westerly wind responsible for the high seas is expected to continue, kicking up dust and sand across the country. Wind has been blowing at a speed of 45 to 65km/h at times. “It is rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman,” said a duty forecaster.

There are chances of light rain in some areas of the country. Residents reported light rain in Liwa and Madinat Zayed on Thursday morning. Temperature has dropped a few degrees and humidity will increase by night and morning in the coastal and inland areas, according to the weather bureau.

“There are chances of mist and fog on Friday morning in some areas,” said the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS). Over the next two days, said the forecaster, weather will be fair in general, becoming partly cloudy and hazy at times, especially in the northern emirates.

Maximum temperature will be around 35 degree Celsius in Dubai and most of the coastal areas across the country during the next two days. Conditions would be bit hotter in in-land areas with mercury hovering around 41 degree Celsius.
